René P. Moniz was selected as one of the Providence Business News 2018 40 Under Forty Honorees. Selected from almost 200 applicants – the most ever in the program’s 14-year history – the winners and their accomplishments were celebrated at an event on July 19 in Warwick, and featured in an upcoming issue of the publication.
The winners were selected based on their career achievements and involvement in their local communities. In addition to her work as a litigator, René dedicated countless hours over the last few years to a grassroots effort to renovate and rededicate a local Wareham park. She was instrumental in securing $175,000 in community preservation funds that were used to renovate Lukey Park, named in honor of Philip Lukey, World War II veteran and prisoner-of-war survivor. The restored park was reopened last November.
