René Moniz is helping to spread the reach of GOTRRI in Bristol County, MA. Girls On The Run is a national organization with 200 councils in all 50 states, reaching young girls to help them develop self confidence, strength of character and healthy relationships. These life lessons are taught through movement and running, creating a lifelong love of health and fitness in the girls and the belief that they can accomplish anything. The conclusion of each program is celebrated by the girls completing a 5K running event. Read on to learn how René is helping give more girls the opportunity to activate their limitless potential with the support of her professional resources:
“I immediately fell in love with Girls on the Run and have been actively trying to find ways to support their mission since 2017. At first, it was merely to offer sneakers or a clothing drive. However, that quickly transformed into seeing the need for this type of program in the New Bedford Public School system. GOTR’s focus on promoting fitness, leadership skills and community engagement are three essential skills that I believe need to be developed and explored during the critical years of a girl’s childhood.
I’m thrilled that 15 girls at E.C. Brooks Elementary School in New Bedford will be able to experience this amazing program at no cost due to the support of the South Coast Business Alliance, an organization that I am involved with as a Board Member. Our hope is that once the New Bedford community sees the impact of GOTR, it will spread like wildflowers to the other elementary schools in the district. In addition to the SCBA, my law firm, Partridge Snow & Hahn, was a proud supporter of the GOTR 5K event in May. If you have never participated in the GOTR 5K, I highly recommend you do so. Supporting and cheering on hundreds of girls throughout the race and seeing their determination and drive was an experience I will never forget.”
