McDermott’s legal practice is focused on litigation and regulatory matters. In his litigation practice, he represents clients in commercial litigation before the state and federal courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His experience includes a variety of complex commercial disputes, contract claims, employment matters, land use and zoning disputes, and appellate matters. McDermott represents clients in litigated disputes ranging from mechanic’s liens to software contract disputes. He is familiar with and has experience using a variety of electronic tools and technology-assisted review software to better manage the scope and cost of document and fact investigation.
McDermott’s regulatory practice is centered on representing clients in the banking, insurance, and cannabis industries before state and federal regulators. In his regulatory practice, McDermott represents numerous banks and credit unions, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions, insurers and insurance agencies, and cannabis cultivators and dispensaries in connection with investigations, examinations, contested matters, and licensing before state and federal regulators and in state and federal courts.
