McDermott has been appointed to the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association (RIMBA) board of directors. Travis has been a member of RIMBA and has served on the organization’s Legislative Committee for the past three years. He will also serve as co-chair of RIMBA’s Legislative Committee beginning in 2025.
Travis’ legal practice is focused on regulatory and litigation matters. In his regulatory practice, Travis represents numerous banks and credit unions, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions, insurers and insurance agencies, and cannabis cultivators and dispensaries in connection with investigations, examinations, contested matters, and licensing before state and federal regulators and in state and federal courts.
In his litigation practice, Travis represents clients in commercial litigation before the state and federal courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His experience includes a variety of complex commercial disputes, contract claims, employment matters, land use and zoning disputes, and appellate matters.
RIMBA promotes and represents the mortgage banking industry in Rhode Island and encourages sound and ethical business practices within the industry. It achieves this by sponsoring meetings, presenting education seminars, and working with legislators on legislative changes that impact housing, real estate, mortgage lending, and related issues.
